I am delighted to be the Headteacher at Ovingham Middle School; a three form entry middle school which is very much part of the local community set in spacious grounds by the River Tyne. In existence since 1975, we are now proud to be part of the Cheviot Learning Trust and work very closely with all our partner schools. Ovingham Middle School’s motto is Opportunity, Motivation and Success. We believe that children can only learn when they feel happy, inspired, included, safe, valued and capable of achieving their potential.

What a week we are having in the PE Department. The KS3 basketball team played in the semi final of the JR NBA conference league against Dame Allan’s tonight and won 32-20 well done boys a great achievement .

Wow, what an evening of football. The U11 Girls Team played in the County Cup Final tonight at Longbenton against Highfield. A very tight first half finished 1-1 , the OMS girls stepped it up a level in the 2nd half and the final score was 4-1 to OMS. I am so proud of everyone of them who all contributed to the final result. Well done girls what a great achievement.

Well done to OMS Year 6 Dodgeball Team who took part in the Primary Schools North Championships at Middlesbrough today. This is the first time we have taken part in these championships and after winning 2 matches and drawing one the team just missed out on a place in the semi-finals. Well done to everyone who took part.

What a fantastic evening of football for the U11 Boys County Cup Final. Ovingham played Walker in the final with an end to end first half which resulted in Walker going 2-0 up at half time. The Ovingham boys battled really hard playing some superb football to come back 2-2 with 2 great goals from Sam Barker. The match then went to penalties which unfortunately we lost 4-3 in. Super proud of everyone of the lads who did a fantastic job of representing the school. Well done!
