Intent

Our Computing curriculum has been carefully designed to deliver the requirements of the National Curriculum while still broadening pupils’ experience of computing with a wide variety of computing applications. The curriculum, in line with our school’s HEART values, aims to provide both an engaging and relevant introduction to new computing skills, software and applications as well as building upon existing skills and knowledge to aid pupils’ progression within the subject. Our curriculum has four key strands that permeate each year group: Digital Literacy, E-Safety, Multimedia and Programming.

At Ovingham Middle School, pupils’ online safety is a key priority. We ensure all pupils are given opportunities to reflect with honesty on their own and others’ use of technology, as well as considering the impact computer science has on their lives. They are taught the importance, and necessity, of good etiquette when using digital devices both in and outside of the classroom.

We understand the significant role technology has in society today.  At Ovingham Middle School we aim to equip all pupils with the knowledge, understanding and life-skills to use information and communication technologies in a safe way in order to become responsible, respectful and resilient digital citizens.
