Pupil Premium

The Government believes that the Pupil Premium funding, which is additional to the main school budget, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.

As a school, we aim for all pupils to fulfil their potential and, as a result, we make organisational and resource decisions based on supporting the best progress for all. It is important to note that, just because a child is within a certain category such as Free School Meals, this does not mean that they are falling behind. Therefore, we aim to use the funding to best impact those children who require additional support as well as those categorised as disadvantaged. Supporting the achievement of any child can happen in a wide variety of ways such as:

  • specific adult support
  • educational resources
  • developing parental engagement
  • whole school or individual staff training
  • providing learning experiences that engage and enthuse

Below are links to the summary plans and evaluations of how the last two year’s Pupil Premium Budget for Ovingham has been spent. The table provides the total budget, the rationale for the spend, the specific purchase, actual costs and the impact identified. Additionally, there is a link to the Department for Education website which explains the Pupil Premium in more detail.
