A warm welcome to Ovingham Middle School!
I am delighted to be the Headteacher at Ovingham Middle School; a three form entry middle school which is very much part of the local community set in spacious grounds by the River Tyne. In existence since 1975, we are now proud to be part of Cheviot Learning Trust and work very closely with all our partner schools.
The team at OMS offer a happy and supportive learning environment in which all pupils are encouraged to strive and achieve the very best they can. We have high expectations of our pupils and staff and, together with governors, we are committed to providing the best possible education for all pupils. Our dedicated team of teachers, highly skilled Teaching Assistants and support staff all share responsibility for your child’s learning and development. We firmly believe that every child is unique and therefore brings different experiences, skills and ideas into the classroom and we aspire to know every pupil personally, offering high quality specialist teaching and a broad, well balanced curriculum that maintains and ignites pupils’ enthusiasm, widens their interests and allows them to develop their full potential.
Ovingham Middle School’s motto is Opportunity, Motivation and Success:
- We provide a wealth of opportunities for pupils to explore their talents and interests and excel.
- We provide motivation, support and challenge so that pupils achieve the very best they can.
- We acknowledge and celebrate success, resilience and effort.
We believe that children can only learn when they feel happy, inspired, included, safe, valued and capable of achieving their potential, and our strong pastoral structure works in partnership with home and provides support and guidance to our pupils through these formative years, creating opportunities for providing extra challenge, responsibility and support. Our focus on pupils’ well-being is seamed throughout the school and is our priority at all times to support both children’s academic progress and personal and social development; this is key in preparing them for their next step in their schooling and to be responsible and respectful citizens.
We look forward to working with you to ensure your son/daughter flourishes at school. Please contact the school office if you would like to visit our school and see how wonderful it is for yourself!
